Mental Health and Justice (MHJ)

Gerstein on Bloor offers 9 MHJ Short-term Residential Crisis Beds for individuals who are dealing with a mental health and addiction crisis and are currently involved in the criminal justice system. The MHJ Short term Residential Crisis Beds are part of a 34-bed network across Toronto offered at Gerstein on Bloor, Reconnect Community Health Services, Cota Health, and CMHA. All of these beds can be accessed through the Central Bed Registry at (416) 248-4174 and must be referred from a MHJ referral source. MHJ referral form (PDF).

These beds are voluntary and not mandated by the courts or police. All legal affairs remain between the individual and the criminal justice system.

The Short Term Residential Crisis Beds are part of the Mental Health and Justice Network in Toronto and offer a broad range of services including court support, court diversion, case management, crisis prevention, police mobile crisis intervention, and housing.
